InteractiveMathTutor.com
has helped me tremendously in math. I was taking honors math in pre-calculus and
was struggling terribly. My tutor worked with me at times, which were always convenient
for me, and was very motivational. After working with my tutor, my math grade
went up significantly. I got accepted to the college of my choice with a scholarship.
If not for my math improvement, I may have needed to settle for my second choice
of universities. - Jennifer, age 17, New Jersey

I
was at my wit end when I found InteractiveMathTutor.com, while surfing through
the many math sites on the web. My grandson Trent was failing 8th grade math,
and I didn't know how to help him. I had posted several notices at various colleges
in our area, and the only responses I got were that we were too far away, or the
hours we were available weren't right for them. I tried to get help from his school,
and their response was if he fails math he will have to leave the school. I was
ready to look for a different school for Trent but decided to e-mail InteractiveMathTutor.com.
The response was immediate by e-mail, and then they followed with a personal call
that changed my mind, and Trent's grades. Their two-way classroom sessions are
fantastic! Trent's tutor really cares about his success in mastering math skills,
improving his attitude, and becoming a success in all areas of his life. This
type of concern and caring really touched my heart. I look at his tutor as a mentor
for Trent also. I would love to share any additional information with anyone who
wants more information about this program. My e-mail address is Patma10c@aol.com

I
am writing to share with you a terrific resource in the area of on-line math tutoring/teaching,
InteractiveMathTutor.com. I found them via the Internet. They are tutoring my
12 year old daughter, Mariella Story, whom I am homeschooling in all the other
subjects. I am a Community College Humanities teacher, specializing in teaching
English to Developmental Students. This takes much patience and a loving attitude
to accomplish. Despite my success in teaching and tutoring English, I ran into
a dead end trying to help my daughter with math. It had always been difficult
for me too. I had tried other tutors but nothing was working. Mariella is very
strong in languages and other word-based studies. In fact, she excels. But somewhere
along the way in school, early on I believe, she fell behind in math. The focus
on memorization instead of math concepts was something she could not relate to.
A couple of years ago, after the death of my husband, I began to homeschool Mariella.
Math was a constant struggle for both of us and a heartache for me as I would
imagine Mari struggling with math, and self-esteem, for the rest of her life.
If I sound dramatic, I am. The situation was abysmal. Even if Mari went back to
school, I knew she would fail at math. She would cry at the mention of the word.
In a final effort, without much hope, I contacted InteractiveMathTutor.com. Mari
began to work together with the tutor on-line twice a week. After just one lesson,
Mari was smiling. I couldn't believe it, even though Mr. Heller had told me that
would be the result. She loves working on the white board on the computer via
NetMeeting. With the microphone and speakers too, they talk to each other. One
of the greatest aspects of this is that the tutor is able to watch her work each
problem and talk her through it when she gets stuck. This way, the tutor can see
at what step in the process she is having difficulty. This is so important. Another
plus is the way that the tutor teaches. He reminds me of a very kind coach, cheering
her on each step of the way, giving instant, positive feedback, making it seem
like a game of sorts. At the same time that the atmosphere is relaxed and positive,
the tutor also pushes her to excel. She is moving quickly now through math that
she hasn't been able to do in years of formal schooling or with tutors. She looks
forward to her meetings, has lost her fear and loathing of math, and thoroughly
enjoys the work. It is unbelievable but true. I see it for myself and in Mari's
eyes and smile when she and the tutor work together. I cannot recommend InteractiveMathTutor.com
math tutoring strongly enough. Thanks! - Nancy Story, Colorado
